Couture Week in Paris. I’m gushing thinking about it, rosy cheeks, large smile, and whimsy in my eyes. One day, I tell myself, one day, I will be there. Sigh…
Anyway, here’s what I think so far of some of the designers shows:
Overall, I like what the house sent down the runway. However, the lack of Raf Simons after his resignation was apparent. What Dior was missing was their wow factor with a fantastic ball gown or two. Like the Couture Dior Jennifer Lawrence wore to the Oscars a few years ago. The white dress that the world fell over with her for. I really missed that from this show. However, I love the use of sheer and the necklines were fantastic.
I loved Armani Prive. It was incredibly delicate and strong at the same time. The color of an orchid was so prominent and soft. The models floated. Stunning. Again, more sheer which seems to be the trend for this coming season. I can’t wait to see what the red carpets will bring.
Karl Lagerfeld has gone with “fashion ecology”. Wood chips were used as beading, paillettes, and 3-D frills among techniques involving recycled paper and organic woven yarn. What he established was that even in Couture Fashion, where the superrich clients spend tens of thousands on a couture garment, there must be measures taken to be eco-friendly. “Fashion is part of the events of our times,” said Lagerfeld.
